Terms of service

The deal for playing on Pickfall, using this website and buying from the store.

01The agreement

These terms are between you and Pickfall's operator, named under Contact below ("Pickfall", "we"). By joining play.pickfall.com, using this website or buying from the store, you agree to them, to the rules, the moderation policy and the refund policy. The privacy policy says how we handle your data.

  • You must be 13 or older to play on Pickfall or to have a website account.
  • You must be 18 or older to buy anything. Before checkout you confirm whether you are; if you say you aren't, the purchase stops.

02Not Mojang or Microsoft

Not an official Minecraft service. Not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft. Pickfall is owned and run by Masen William Toplak. The Minecraft EULA still applies to your Minecraft account. Questions about Pickfall, its store or your purchases come to us, not to Mojang.

03Your licence

We give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable licence to use Pickfall, and the digital items, ranks and currency on your account, for your own play on Pickfall. Nothing on Pickfall is sold to you as property: you don't own the items, ranks or gems, and they have no value outside Pickfall.

04Your account

  • Your Pickfall account is your Minecraft account. Everything you earn or buy belongs to its UUID, not its username.
  • A website account comes from running /link in game and signing in with Discord. Keep your password and your Discord account safe: anything done while signed in counts as you.
  • Don't share, sell or buy accounts. Staff may treat accounts that play together or share an IP as alts.
  • If we learn an account belongs to a child under 13, we close it and erase its data.

05Rules, and what is never allowed

Follow the rules. Staff warn, mute, kick or ban players who break them, as the moderation policy describes. These are never allowed, anywhere on Pickfall: in chat, gang chat, names and tags, things you build, and on our website and Discord:

  • hacked clients, mods or macros that give an advantage, and abusing bugs instead of reporting them;
  • selling or buying items, currency or accounts for real money;
  • scamming other players;
  • names or skins that are offensive or pretend to be staff.

06Illegal content

Nobody may post, share, link to or ask for anything illegal. That includes:

  • Child sexual abuse: any sexual image, video or writing involving a child, or a link to one. Adults must never groom a child: befriend them to gain their trust, ask for photos or personal details, talk to them about sex, or try to meet them.
  • Terrorism: supporting, praising or recruiting for a terrorist group or attack, or sharing its material. Accounts run by or for a banned (proscribed) organisation aren't allowed.
  • Hate: threats, abuse or stirring up hatred against people because of their race, religion, sexuality, disability, gender identity or similar.
  • Harassment, stalking, threats and abuse: threatening to hurt or kill someone, following or watching someone who wants to be left alone, and abusing or scaring someone again and again.
  • Controlling or coercive behaviour: controlling, cutting off or frightening a partner or family member.
  • Intimate image abuse: sharing, or threatening to share, a nude or sexual image of someone without their consent, including fake ones.
  • Extreme pornography, and cyberflashing: sending a sexual image to someone who didn't want it.
  • Sexual exploitation: advertising or arranging sex for money, or controlling someone who sells sex.
  • Human trafficking: moving or holding people to exploit them, including recruiting players, especially young ones, to carry drugs or commit crimes.
  • Illegal immigration: helping someone enter or stay in a country illegally.
  • Fraud and scams: phishing, fake giveaways and stealing accounts, and money crime: hiding or moving criminal money, or selling stolen things.
  • Drugs and weapons: selling or buying illegal drugs, guns, knives or other weapons.
  • Suicide and self-harm: encouraging or helping someone to end their life or seriously hurt themselves.
  • Foreign interference: secretly acting for a foreign government to influence politics or elections.
  • Animal cruelty: real cruelty to animals, or encouraging it.
  • Doxxing (posting someone's real name, address, school, photos or other personal details without their consent), threatening or knowingly false messages meant to hurt someone, and anything else that breaks the law.

We report child sexual abuse material, and threats to someone's life or safety, to the police and the relevant authorities.

07Content harmful to children

Players as young as 13 play here, so these are banned for everyone, whatever their age, even where they're legal:

  • Pornography and other sexual content;
  • content that encourages, promotes or gives instructions for suicide, self-harm or an eating disorder;
  • bullying: picking on someone, humiliating them, leaving them out on purpose, or ganging up on them;
  • abuse or hate about who someone is: their race, religion, sex, sexuality, disability or gender identity;
  • instructions for serious violence, and real violence against people or animals shared to shock or glorify it;
  • dangerous stunts and challenges that could hurt someone who copies them;
  • encouraging anyone to take a harmful substance, like drugs or poisons, or too much of a medicine;
  • mocking people for their body or weight, and content that pushes despair or hopelessness.

08How we keep you safe

  • Staff moderation. Staff look at every report. Child safety, child sexual abuse material and threats to life go to the front of the queue; everything else is looked at within 24 hours. They warn, mute, kick or ban under the moderation policy, and can rename or disband a gang.
  • Automatic checks. Gang names and tags are checked when they're chosen, and links are blocked in chat.
  • Reporting. Report a player in game with /report <player> <what happened>, or at pickfall.com/report. The report shows staff the last few minutes of chat. To report without signing in, email support@pickfall.com. Never send us child sexual abuse material or a link to it: tell us where you saw it.
  • Appeals. If we act against your account, we tell you why. Appeal at pickfall.com/appeal or by emailing appeals@pickfall.com: we look again, within 14 days, as the moderation policy says.
  • Looking after yourself. Never share your real name, address, school or photos, and be careful of anyone who asks you to move to another app. If something online upsets you, talk to someone you trust; in the UK, Childline (0800 1111) and the Samaritans (116 123) are there for you.

We can reverse anything gained by breaking the rules, including taking back items and currency, and can remove a player from a season's prizes.

09Seasons and resets

  • Pickfall runs in seasons. At the end of a season, season progress resets: money, tokens, prison ranks, prestige, rebirth and the other things the season announcement lists.
  • Store ranks and gems aren't reset. They carry over to the next season.
  • Crate keys, bought or earned, are season progress: unopened keys reset when the season ends.
  • Perk values (bonuses, slots, kit contents) may be rebalanced between seasons, and are never changed during one.

10Purchases, gems and Pickfall+

  • The website sells gem packs, ranks and Pickfall+. Prices are in US dollars, include any tax, and are shown before checkout. Every purchase asks you to confirm, and shows up in your purchase history.
  • Stripe processes payments. You pay in Stripe's payment form on this site, and Stripe handles your card details, not us. Pickfall sells what you buy and delivers it.
  • When the checkout says "Sold through Link", Sold through Link, LLC ("Link"), a Stripe company, is the merchant of record: it charges you, sends your receipt, collects VAT and sales tax, and handles payment support and disputes. Your card statement shows LINK.COM*. Link may offer to charge you in your local currency at its own exchange rate. Link's Sold Through Link Terms and refund policy also apply to the payment, and Stripe's Privacy Policy covers what Stripe and Link collect. Otherwise Pickfall is also the merchant of record, and collects tax where it's registered.
  • Delivery is immediate. At checkout you agree that your purchase is delivered straight away, and acknowledge that you lose the right to withdraw from it (the 14-day right in the EU and UK) once it's delivered. When Link is the merchant of record, its own terms still let EU and UK consumers ask Link to cancel within 14 days: see the refund policy.
  • What you buy is covered by your licence. It's account-bound: it can't be traded, sold or moved to another account or server. Crate keys are the exception: a key bought with gems is the same as any other key, and can be traded in game.
  • Gems are Pickfall's premium currency. They have no cash value, can't be cashed out and can't be given to other players. Every gem price also shows its dollar value.
  • Pickfall+ is a monthly subscription at the price shown before you subscribe. It renews each month until you cancel. Cancel any time, without contacting us, from your purchase history: press Cancel, then confirm. If Link sold it, you can also cancel at link.com. Cancelling stops future payments. Pickfall+ runs to the end of the month you've paid for; its bonuses stop then, and gems already delivered stay in your balance.
  • Refunds and chargebacks follow the refund policy. Disputing a charge doesn't lock your account.
  • Paid crate keys are sold only for gems, only to players 18 or over, and not in Belgium, Brazil or the Netherlands, and paid crates open only for those players. Each paid crate lists the exact odds of every item and tier on the crate odds page and in game before you buy a key. Every open gives something.

11Season prizes

Some leaderboards award prizes at the end of a season. They're competitions decided by how players place, not by a draw.

  • No purchase is necessary to take part or to win. Void where prohibited.
  • Open to players aged 13 or older whose accounts are in good standing.
  • Prizes are store credit. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money or transferred, and are tied to the winner's account. Store credit expires at the end of the following season, and spending it follows the store's rules, including its age rule.
  • Before prizes are given, staff review the top places: linked accounts, economy history, anti-cheat flags and playtime. Only one account per player can win. We can disqualify a placing for cheating, exploits, alt accounts or breaking the rules, and the place passes to the next eligible player.
  • If a season is compromised, by a bug, an exploit or an outage, we can change or cancel its prizes.

12Names and things you create

Gang names and tags, mine names and anything else other players see must follow the name policy. You let us show what you create on Pickfall, in game and on the website. We can rename or remove anything that breaks the rules. If you think something on Pickfall infringes your copyright, send a notice to support@pickfall.com; accounts that repeatedly infringe are banned.

13Suspension, ending access and changes to Pickfall

You can stop playing at any time and ask us to erase your account (see the privacy policy).

Except where the law requires otherwise, we can suspend or revoke your access to Pickfall, your account or your licence at any time, with or without notice, and without any refund or reimbursement of what you paid or spent. We can also change, pause or shut down Pickfall, its features and its economy, on the same terms.

14No warranties, and limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pickfall is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted or error-free service, and that progress or items won't be lost.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pickfall and its operator, staff and volunteers aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost progress, items, currency or data. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to what you paid Pickfall in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law says can't be limited.

15Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA. Except where the law of the country you live in gives you the right to bring a claim there, disputes go to the state or federal courts in Wisconsin.

16Changes

We'll give at least 30 days' notice of any material change to these terms, on this website and on Discord, and update the date at the top. Changes the law requires, or that protect players' security, can take effect at once. If you keep playing after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
